Easychem TOX Early Warning

As a result of years of intensive research and development activities, EASYCHEM TOX Early Warning is an original direct reading on-line analyzer based on discrete analysis technology, for fully automated toxicity measurements of water samples using live cultures of luminescent bacteria.

EASYCHEM TOX Early Warning is a on-line automated platform equipped with color touchscreen LCD and housed in an industrial cabinet, comprising a refrigerated compartment, for bacteria, reagents, calibrants and controls. A mechanical arm for aspiration, transferring and dispensing of reagents and samples and a thermostated reaction plate with 80 positions are incorporated with a luminometer, integrated with an automated cuvette washing station.

Easychem TOX Early Warning: acute toxicity automatic measurement with luminescent bacteria

In order to enable an extended time of use of rehydrated cultures by up to ten days, proprietary bioluminescent bacteria were selected, grown, stabilized and lyophilized according to standard methods. Thus, for the required period, the microorganisms preserve a measurable bioluminescence signal and an unaltered sensitivity to different types of reference compounds defined in ISO and GB-T standards, such as zinc sulphate and mercury Chloride. The system is programmed to manage several bacterial vials in succession, thus enabling an high frequency measurement for one month or up to three months of unattended operation with lower measurement frequency.

Fully automated for unattended toxicity monitoring

Timing and frequency of analytical cycles, limits and parameters of quality controls are programmable by the operator and managed automatically. The continuous measurement of blanks and samples at pre-defined time intervals of about 40 seconds, results in the generation of inhibition kinetics, which allow to achieve, from the very beginning of the analysis, preliminary information on the level of sample contamination.  Following a toxicity alert, the system is able to react immediately by automatically replicating samples and performing control checks to confirm identified toxicity, significantly reducing the occurrence of false positives. 
EASYCHEM TOX Early Warning provides local data storage via seriale RS-232 with separate optional analog outputs 4-20 mA, remote data storage on a web server and data transmission via ftp, http and SMS. An immediate alert service is available in case of detected noncompliances. Finally, the management software allows the integration of different instrumentation, thus realizing a truly integrated monitoring station, combining chemical and toxicological on-line control of water samples.

Portable Analyzers

μMAC-1000 is an online portable analyzer of chemical parameters in water, available either in mono or sequential mutiparametric configuration, providing the highest level of analytical automation and compactness.

μMAC-1000 is the only available high sensitivity multiparametric portable and on-line analyzer using colorimetric approved methods.

The analyzer can measure many type of water samples on a wide range of applications, including sea water.

µMAC-Smart is a portable analyzer fully controlled by an integrated PC with integrated colour Touch Screen, specifically designed for at site monitoring of all water resources.

The analyzer is mounted in a robust and easy-to-transport plastic case including room for reagents and all other accessories. A reagent frame holds all reagent bottles and required solutions.

In-situ filtration

25 microns cut-off filtration cartridge with antifouling capability

The 25 microns cut-off inlet cylindrical filter cartridge (dimensions 30 mm x 100 mm) avoids the clogging of the sample inlet and protect the probe’s inlet tube and internal hydraulics from fouling.

It has to be mounted directly on the sample line and it has to be cleaned regularly at the time of maintenance service.

Autocleaning 25 microns cut-off filtration system with antifouling capability

The same 25 microns cut-off inlet cylindrical filter cartridge is provided coupled with a compressed air generator and sample line rinsing pump: this device produces compressed air at 1 bar to clean automatically the filter; a secondary peristaltic pump updates the outlet of the filter to the inlet of the probe.

This device has to be mounted outside water; the internal air compressor is protected by a water level sensor placed at the bottom of the device. The autocleaning and rinsing sequence is defined by a programmable internal timer.

In-situ 0.1 microns cut-off microfiltration unit with auto back-wash

This microfiltration device with auto-backwash capability is composed by the following components:

  • 25 microns filter with antifouling capability;
  • 0.1 microns cut-off filtration cartridge;
  • PVC IP67 cylinder containing a 12 Vcc peristaltic pump and a three way selection valve, to update the water sample into the 0.1 microns cut-off filtration cartridge and to perform the periodic backwash;
  • 250 ml storage bag, to store the filtered sample to be used for filter backwash after the measurement.

Variable depth sampling system with autocleaning 25 microns cut-off filtration system and antifouling capability

The WIZ variable depth sampling system can be used to allow the measurement of a water sample collected at various depths in a lake, lagoon or estuary, down to -50 m depth.

The system is composed by the following units:

  • raw filter inlet and sample line: the incoming water sample is collected with a raw filter having a cut-off of about 1 mm; the 4 mm I.D. sampling Rilsan type tube can be provided up to 50 m length;
  • submergible sampling pump unit: peristaltic pump, 250ml/min flow at 12 Vcc; this device can be submerged, max. down to -5 m depth;
  • filtration chamber: it contains the 25 µm cut-off filter with autocleaning and biofouling protection: this unit can be opened from the bottom side to ensure a complete manual cleaning of the filter during routine maintenance activities; the internal volume of the filtration chamber is about 250 ml; this device can be submerged too;
  • compressed air generator and sample line rinsing pump: this device produces compressed air at 1 bar to clean automatically the filter; a secondary peristaltic pump updates the outlet of the filter to the inlet of the probe. WIZ probe

Water in-situ analyzer

WIZ probe is the state of the art portable “in-situ” probe, to measure automatically up to four chemical compounds in surface and sea water.

The innovative design allows an easy handling and field deployment by a single user.

WIZ probe allows, in the standard configuration, the detection at trace levels of the main four nutrients compounds:

  • ammonia (N-NH3)
  • orthophosphate (P-PO4)
  • nitrate + nitrite N-(NO3+NO2)
  • nitrite (N-NO2).

WIZ probe automatically manages the well known spectrophotometric wet chemistries and an advanced fluorimetric method for ammonia measurement.

Many other analytical methods are available on request, including silicates, Total P, Total N, iron and other metals.

WIZ Pro is the most advanced analytical probe for field applications:

  • the 1.5 ml micro Loop Flow Reactor (μLFR*) enables an extremely low consumption of reagents and calibrants
  • the exclusive multibeam compact, optic fibers based, colorimetric detector, coupled with a state of the art fluorimeter
  • the new compact cylindrical design allows the deployment as any conventional water quality monitoring probes available in the market
  • the new innovative “plug-in” and compact reagents container allows an immediate field reagents and calibration solutions changeover.

Results are directly provided in concentration units; all measured values are stored with date, time and sample O.D.; the same data are remotely available through a serial communication port, which allows the complete probe configuration and remote control using the external Windows® based Wiz Control Panel software.

The Wiz reagents container:

Reagents and calibrants flexible bags are placed inside the “plug-in” compact reagents container.

The bags are connected to the internal analytical reactor with an enhanced version of our exclusive fast hydraulic 10 lines multiconnector*, ensuring quick replacement in the field.

Reagents consumption is limited to about 30-60 microliters of each reagent per single analysis; the reagents container is designed to contain up to 500 ml of reagents and calibrant solution, to ensure at least 1000 automatic field analysis.

Auto-calibration is performed using concentrated standard solutions, contained in the same reagents container.

In-situ Probes

SYSTEA proposes a series of submergible multiparametric in-situ probes for sequential automatic analysis of up to four nutrients or other chemical parameters in surface and sea water.

Our probes are specifically designed for unattended monitoring in oceanographic research, environmental protection and biological studies; the following models are available:

The standard wet chemistries for nutrients analysis used in our in-situ probes are optimized to be used for unattended water quality monitoring in surface and sea water: NH3: fluorimetric OPA method PO4: Molibdate, Ascorbic acid colorimetric method NO3+NO2: UV reduction + NED, SAA colorimetric method NO2: NED, SAA colorimetric method.

Other chemical parameters available are: Silicates Total Phosphorous Total Nitrogen Total Dissolved Iron Sulphide.

NPA Pro

Nutrients probe analyzer 

NPA Pro is submergible multiparametric in-situ probe for sequential automatic analysis of up to four nutrients or other chemical parameters in surface and sea water, based on μLFR* technology. The standard wet chemistries for nutrients analysis used in NPA Pro are the ones recommended by international standard:

  • NH3: Berthelot reaction
  • PO4: Molibdate, Ascorbic acid
  • NO3+NO2: Cd reduction NED, SAA
  • NO2: NED, SAA.

New innovative chemistries are also available to make easier the management of the on site operations:

  • NH3: fluorimetric OPA method
  • NO3+NO2: UV photoreduction method exclusively licensed to Systea by Ifremer (French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea).

Other chemical parameters available are:

  • total phosphorous
  • total nitrogen (UV Reduction)
  • total dissolved iron
  • silicates 
  • sulphide.
 

The NPA Pro has been designed to be best integrated in coastal buoys. The two cylinders can be easily placed on the buoy’s body holes and then simply anchored with chains or hooks or snaphooks.It is made of two different PVC cylinders: 

  • the first one includes hydraulic and electronics components;
  • the second one includes reagents, calibrant, DI water and waste bag.

A single hydraulic connector with 10 tubing is used to connect the second cylinder to the first one. This multi-connector is provided with a valve to open it during functioning and to close it during transportation, to avoid reagent spillage.

Advanteges and benefits

  • Two cylinders are more convenient/easy to deploy: the electronic compartment is never removed;
  • The NPA Pro doesn't unbalances the buoy: the single body, if placed externally, can tilt the whole system that needs redistribution of buoyancy;
  • If needed, the Cd column, may be placed just above the electronic compartment;
  • The reagent compartment may be changed as a whole; its allowance is around 17 litres;
  • Long lasting reagents quantity, expected reagent changeover every 45/60 days.
