μMac-Smart - Portable Analyzer

Portable water analyzer for fast and accurate on-site analysis

µMAC-Smart is a portable analyzer fully controlled by an integrated PC with integrated colour Touch Screen, specifically designed for at site monitoring of all water resources.

µMAC-Smart is robust and reliable: the analyzer is mounted in a compact and easy-to-transport plastic case including room for reagents and all other accessories. A reagent frame holds all reagent bottles and required solutions.

The analyzer is easy to be installed and it is designed for easy operations, the analyzer can be used at site after a quick training. It is delivered from factory fully tested and ready to use reagent kits are available for all standard measurements. Results are stored inside the analyzer memory and can be downloaded through the USB port .Analyzer start up and operations have never been easier! Just turn on and insert the reagents: a simple software will guide the operator through all necessary steps.

Automated calibration 

The analyzer calibration is fully automated; just use the calibration solution as specified in the manual and run. The new calibration factor is checked and accepted if verified to be comprised within acceptance limits.

Multiple parameters
The analyzer can be delivered ready for multiple measurements (MP versions) on the same sample; several multiparametric configurations are available as standard (see here below).
Multiple measurements 
The analyzer offers the option for continuous operational mode; the operator can perform sequential measurements several times on the same sample or just leave the analyzer running while the water sample flows.
Off-scale reanalysis 
The analyzer identifies off scale samples and reanalyze the water sample after automated dilution.

Micromac 1000

On-line and portable analyzer for chemical parameters monitoring in water

µMAC-1000 is an on-line portable analyzer, available either in mono or sequential mutiparametric configuration (µMAC-1000 MP), providing the highest level of analytical automation.

µMAC-1000 is the only high sensitivity multiparametric portable analyzer in the market; it uses the well known wet chemistry methods normally used in the laboratories. The analyzer can measure any type of water samples; a wide range of applications is available, including high sensitivity methods for nutrients analysis in seawater.

Easy to use  Sample analysis using µMAC-1000, is easy and friendly; the operator can run a sample only selecting a two keys analysis function on the integrated keyboard.

µMAC-1000 can perform very complex analytical cycles; the results are displayed in concentration units and provided through the analog or the RS-232 port.

Always ready for analysis  At the end of each analytical cycle the analyzer remain in stand by mode, without reagents consumption, always ready for next sample.

Easy to install
After the factory tests, the analyser is delivered ready to be installed; start-up kit is included; it is enough to prepare the reagents, to connect the sample line, the waste and the power to start the measurement.
Sample dilution  The analysis can be run either on the whole sample either after dilution on operator request. Dilution mode will be automatically activated on over range samples, with a dilution factor, factory selected, up to 100.

In-situ Probes

SYSTEA proposes a series of submergible multiparametric in-situ probes for sequential automatic analysis of up to four nutrients or other chemical parameters in surface and sea water.

Our probes are specifically designed for unattended monitoring in oceanographic research, environmental protection and biological studies; the following models are available:

The standard wet chemistries for nutrients analysis used in our in-situ probes are optimized to be used for unattended water quality monitoring in surface and sea water: NH3: fluorimetric OPA method PO4: Molibdate, Ascorbic acid colorimetric method NO3+NO2: UV reduction + NED, SAA colorimetric method NO2: NED, SAA colorimetric method.

Other chemical parameters available are: Silicates Total Phosphorous Total Nitrogen Total Dissolved Iron Sulphide.

NPA Pro

Nutrients probe analyzer 

NPA Pro is submergible multiparametric in-situ probe for sequential automatic analysis of up to four nutrients or other chemical parameters in surface and sea water, based on μLFR* technology. The standard wet chemistries for nutrients analysis used in NPA Pro are the ones recommended by international standard:

  • NH3: Berthelot reaction
  • PO4: Molibdate, Ascorbic acid
  • NO3+NO2: Cd reduction NED, SAA
  • NO2: NED, SAA.

New innovative chemistries are also available to make easier the management of the on site operations:

  • NH3: fluorimetric OPA method
  • NO3+NO2: UV photoreduction method exclusively licensed to Systea by Ifremer (French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea).

Other chemical parameters available are:

  • total phosphorous
  • total nitrogen (UV Reduction)
  • total dissolved iron
  • silicates 
  • sulphide.
 

The NPA Pro has been designed to be best integrated in coastal buoys. The two cylinders can be easily placed on the buoy’s body holes and then simply anchored with chains or hooks or snaphooks.It is made of two different PVC cylinders: 

  • the first one includes hydraulic and electronics components;
  • the second one includes reagents, calibrant, DI water and waste bag.

A single hydraulic connector with 10 tubing is used to connect the second cylinder to the first one. This multi-connector is provided with a valve to open it during functioning and to close it during transportation, to avoid reagent spillage.

Advanteges and benefits

  • Two cylinders are more convenient/easy to deploy: the electronic compartment is never removed;
  • The NPA Pro doesn't unbalances the buoy: the single body, if placed externally, can tilt the whole system that needs redistribution of buoyancy;
  • If needed, the Cd column, may be placed just above the electronic compartment;
  • The reagent compartment may be changed as a whole; its allowance is around 17 litres;
  • Long lasting reagents quantity, expected reagent changeover every 45/60 days.

Micromac COD

On-line analyzers for COD monitoring
in water and wastewater

 

Three versions of COD on-line analyzers are available:

  • dichromate method
  • permanganate index method
  • UV direct reading method.

The dichromate method follows the international standard where in the sample, after filtration, Potassium Dichromate, Mercury (II) sulfate and Sulfuric acid with a proper catalyst are added; Mercury (II) sulfate concentration is adjusted to mask the expected Chloride amount.

The sample is then heated at 170° for 20 minutes or at 150° up to 2 hours (digestion time and digestion temperature can be adjusted depending on the matrix to digest completely all the substances that give a contribute to COD). After digestion the sample is cooled and the absorbance measured at 592 nm is proportional to a COD concentration.

The permanganate index is defined as the quantity of oxygen, expressed as mg/l, equivalent to the consumed permanganate when a water sample is treated with as solution of potassium permanganate in acid environment and at a temperature of 100°C for 10 minutes. The sample is mixed with diluted sulphuric acid, it is then heated at about 100°C, when the first addition of KMnO4 is performed: this first addition may be followed by others, depending on the measuring range. The digestion time in the standard configuration is set to 10 minutes but it can be selected depending on the matrix.

After digestion the sample is cooled and the decrease of the absorbance measured at 525 nm corresponds to the permanganate consumed by the organic substance.

The UV direct reading method is a more simple method where the COD is correlated to the direct light absorption of the water sample measured at 254 nm.

Micromac Total N&P

On line analyzer for nitrogen and phosphorus
monitoring in surface and waste water
 

Micromac C TN&TP is designed to analyze Total Nitrogen and Total Phosphorus in the same device; UV digestion is applied for Total N, UV and high temperature digestion for Total P.

The measurement is performed in a combined mode, ensuring one hour of measurement for both parameters; 4-20 mA  data output is provided at the same time.

Measurement method 

The sample after proper filtration is pumped inside the LFA
reactor, where after injection of H2SO4 is trapped inside the
high temp heating bath for inorganic P hydrolysis. During
the hydrolysis time, the analyzer runs a complete TN test on
the same sample, by adding the oxidation reagents and
passing through a UV digestion step, to convert Nitrogen
into Nitrate by UV radiation in persulfate alkaline medium.
The nitrates formed are then reduced to nitrites by hydrazine
in alkaline solution, where copper is used as catalyst; the
nitrites react with sulphanilamide and
naphtylethylendiamine in acid solution, to form a pink
colored compound measurable at 550 nm.
The reactor is washed and then the analyzer opens the
heating bath and adds in the digested sample a proper
oxidant to convert all the organic forms of phosphorus into
orthophoshate, by the double action of potassium
persulphate and UV radiation in acid environment. The
orthophosphate formed reacts with molybdate to form
phosphomolybdate, which is finally reduced to blue
molybdenum by ascorbic acid. The coloured complex is
read at 660 or 880 nm.

MICROMAC C is a colorimetric microprocessor controlled On Line analyzer specifically designed for automatic monitoring on several type of waters matrix.
